Linda MartinezUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesLinda Martinez is a senior and will graduate in December with a degree in biology. She volunteers at her church by providing transportation for the elderly and disabled. Linda is currently teaching chemistry at Legacy High School, working with mostly 10th graders. After graduation, she plans to continue her education by first obtaining a master’s in education and eventually a doctorate. Linda hopes to work as a counselor or superintendent for a school district. She enjoys running 5K’s and is an active member of her church.
Brianna NiblettUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesBrianna Niblett is a senior and will be graduating in May 2018 with a degree in mathematics. She is currently a Student Assistant at Laurel Village Dormitory and has volunteered at numerous elementary, middle and high schools. After graduation, she would like to continue her education and pursue a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Brianna would like to be a middle school or high school teacher because of her love of children and math. She enjoys listening to music and being with her family.
Emily PetersonUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesEmily Peterson will be graduating May 2018 with a degree in multidisciplinary science and a minor in biology. She plans on attending UTSA for graduate school to pursue a degree in educational leadership. Upon graduation, she would like to become a middle school or high school teacher in San Antonio. Emily has always wanted to become a teacher since she was old enough to assist her mother in her third grade classroom. She is thankful for a program like GE2MS/UTeachSA that has allowed her to gain many friends who have similar career goals and are as excited about becoming teachers as she is. GE2MS/UTeachSA has enriched her experience in college and made her see the value in being part of a community of passionate educators.
Nolberto Ayala-TellezUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesNolberto Ayala-Tellez will graduate in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a double concentration in Software Engineering and Cyber Security. Nolberto plans to pursue a career in either of his concentrations, but is leaning more toward Cyber Security. His goal is to work at Raytheon or the National Security Agency (NSA), but is open to working in an office with a Cyber Security concentration.
Alifya MusaUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesAlifya Musa was born in India and is a senior majoring in computer science with a concentration in software engineering and computer and information security. She will graduate in December 2017 and hopes to gain experience from different technical and strategic roles to grow into a management position, preferably at Chevron. Alifya cofounded and was Vice President of the Association for Computing Machinery -Women UTSA, and she was a senator for the Student Government Association at UTSA. She enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, reading and community outreach.
Kristopher GillyUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesKristopher Gilly is a senior majoring in computer science with concentrations in computer and information security and data science and pursuing a minor in mathematics. During the summer of 2016, he was hired as a Software Engineer Intern at Dell and was invited to participate in Dell's internship program for the summer of 2017. Kristopher will graduate in December 2017 and plans to find a job as a Software Developer or Security Administrator. He enjoys programming and looks forward to having a chance to make a difference through a management position.
Cassidy MatousekUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesCassidy Matousek is a senior majoring in computer science with a minor in astrophysics. She will graduate in May 2018 and would like to continue her education and pursue her master's degree. Cassidy hopes to work in product management at a large tech company. She is currently planning to accept an offer from Microsoft in Seattle. Cassidy enjoys traveling, scuba diving, cooking and hanging out with friends.
Christian WilsonUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesChristian Wilson is a senior majoring in computer science with a concentration in software engineering. He is currently employed at UTSA as an AV Tech where he performs basic IT and audiovisual work. After graduating in May 2018, Christian plans to work for a company as a developer and eventually become a manager in a company. In his spare time he enjoys Jiu Jitsu and reading.
Jordan AtkinsUTSA - The University of Texas at San Antonio, College of SciencesJordan Atkins was born in Illinois and is a senior majoring in computer science. Before deciding to go back to school, Jordan was a supervisor for Halliburton. After graduating in spring 2019, he plans to continue his education and pursue a master's degree. Jordan hopes to work in an interesting field that will lead to growth and more education.Science Teaching Tools GrantThis program is intended to promote effective science, technology, engineering, and math teachers in the San Antonio and surrounding area.
